Join our esteemed team as a Network Engineer (Level I - Principal) and play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network solutions that underpin critical infrastructure. In this remote position, you will engage with diverse networks, including internet, MPLS core, and systems serving electrical membership cooperatives in Georgia. Your primary focus will be on troubleshooting network routing challenges and ensuring the delivery of reliable, high-performance network operations.
Key Responsibilities
Engineer I:
- Assist in the design and implementation of new network projects, incorporating alternate routing, load balancing, prioritization, and security measures.
- Conduct provisioning and testing for new data circuits while documenting and programming equipment.
- Provide operational and maintenance support, addressing escalated issues in-house and at remote locations.
- Execute network performance testing, assessing capacity, IP data performance, and security measures.
Engineer II
- Spearhead the design and implementation of new networks and modifications, ensuring compliance with routing, load balancing, and security specifications.
- Participate in evaluations and studies of new networking equipment, services, and technologies.
- Promote the security of network components, including firewalls and VPN clients from leading providers such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto.
Senior Engineer
- Oversee network design projects, emphasizing routing, load balancing, and security from initial proposal through implementation.
- Offer recommendations for new technologies and equipment, including specialized studies.
- Mentor technicians on advanced network technologies.
Principal Engineer
- Direct the design and architecture of telecommunications, data, voice, and fiber networks, ensuring comprehensive attention to design, planning, implementation, testing, and training.
- Guide strategic planning for all data and voice networks, delivering expert recommendations on emerging networking technologies.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support to fellow engineers and Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure network designs align with operational requirements and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in network engineering within a large WAN environment.
- Engineer II: 3-4 years of network engineering expertise, with knowledge of BGP, iBGP, OSPF, and eVPN.
- Senior Engineer: 6+ years of experience, including design and implementation of complex routing strategies and cloud integrations (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Principal Engineer: 10+ years of experience with specialization in SDWAN, B2B VPN, and cloud provider connections.
- Equivalent Experience: An Associate degree accompanied by additional years of progressive networking experience.
Certifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized Status as required by security policies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, and Arista EOS.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with basic routing, network security, and cloud networking solutions is advantageous.
- Experience in network automation and programming (e.g., Python) is preferred.
